1870: John McDonald buys blocks of land in Pokolbin, between the Wilkinson's and Drayton's holdings.

1870: Sebastian Brickman takes up a land grant of 90 acres on Broke Road and grows grapes but does not make wine.

1870: Tyrrells now have 30 acres of land under vine: Semillon, Shiraz and Aucerot.

1871: Edward (Dan) Tyrrell is born at Maitland.

C1876: A cottage is built at Peppertree (Halls Road).

1877: Audrey Wilkinson born in Five Dock, Sydney.

1879: Tyrrell's Four Acres vineyard planted by Edward Tyrrell: proves to be one of the best in the Hunter, located next to the winery in Broke Road.

1879: Phylloxera detected in Geelong vineyards.
